It sounds crazy, but recently I’ve seen a few women wearing something that looks like a car mechanic’s jumpsuit, except the pants are actually short-shorts. So I did a bit of digging around, and it turns out that not only is this becoming a street fashion thing, quite a few fashion houses of note are making it into a full-blown trend. They call it a “playsuit“, and “playful” is certainly one word that could be used to describe it.
Don’t be mistaken, though – this is not a summer thing, it’s intended to be worn in the winter, paired up with the season’s hottest thigh-high boots and maybe some patterned tights. I think this look would be great on those with a lean-and-lanky torso. It all depends on how the middle of the garment is designed; this wool playsuit from Paul & Joe seems to be pretty baggy in the waist area, which will make it very comfortable, but probably won’t do much to define the waist area on those with hourglass figures.
