Opening Ceremony is up to so much so much of the time that it’s easy to miss some news. The past few months have seen another Chloë Sevigny collab, the Betsey Johnson Archive collection, all that fantastic Where the Wild Things Are merch, and the opening of their Tokyo gigantorium. Ignored in all the pandemonium was the understated debut of Keds for Opening Ceremony. The first collection put an all-American, appropriately Olympic-themed gloss on the classic Keds Champion silhouette. It was nice enough, but the second round of Keds, which we previewed yesterday, really goes for the gusto. Riffing on seventies British punk subculture, OC has wrapped these Champions in animal-print ponyhair and called the collection a day. At $125 a pop, they seem like the perfect (and reasonably priced) thing with which to accessorize your Where the Wild Things Are faux fur dress. Look for the ponyskin Keds at Opening Ceremony in December.
