Well folks, Halloween is drawing near, and if you’re like me, it’s sneaking up on you.
When I was a kid, I loved to come up with Halloween costume ideas and make them with my parents. As a mom, I’m from the school of no fuss, no muss. Here’s our Halloween costume history.

I got this pumpkin sleeper at a consignment sale. Later I learned that they make all kinds of outfits for infants.
The next year, I was lamenting about coming up with a costume idea for Evan. My husband suggested a farmer, which I thought was great. I found the straw hat at Michaels for less than $2, and we were on our way.

Last year, when we were visiting Granny P and Grandpa Ken, Evan inherited a blue bandanna and an engineer’s cap that was way too big, and our Halloween planning was done.
So until Evan insists on something else, I’m trying to find outfits that require jeans or overalls, a shirt and a hat. This year he is going to be a cowboy. (I offered him a choice of cowboy or construction worker, and he immediately insisted on being Woody the Cowboy from “Toy Story.”)
The only hitch in my plan this year is that one of our friends had an old cowboy costume, so he is going to run around in a vest and chaps. And now Evan thinks he needs cowboy boots.
I’m thinking that Halloween isn’t going to be as easy next year.
